Fishing and Hunting Opportunities

Mattice Lake Outfitters is the fisherman’s dream in just about every respect. All locations are accessible by seaplane only. Plentiful walleye, northern pike, and lake trout offer ripe fishing opportunities while our furnished outpost camps and wilderness lodge offer comfort and peace. You can choose between staying at the Ogoki Reservoir, Short Lake, or Mojikit Lake, all of which offer fully-equipped accommodations, excellent fishing, and moose hunting during the season. All camps have 14- and 16-foot Lund Boat with 15 HP Yamaha Outboard Motors.

During the annual moose season, we have a high success rate due to the healthy and plentiful herds, as well as our surveillance of their movement. If you so choose, you can also stay in one of our tent camps on the lakes used for hunting only.

Remote Fishing and Hunting Outpost in Ontario

Mattice Lake Outfitters is truly remote – it’s accessible only by seaplane from Armstrong Station, Ontario so the only people you’ll come across are our other guests. When you come here to enjoy the majestic scenery and world-class fishing, you can stay in our deluxe, fully equipped outpost camps or our wilderness lodge. For those who arrive the day before flying to one of our camps, we have five fully modern guest cabins at the seaplane base overlooking Mattice Lake and McKenzie Lake. You can even stay in these fully furnished modern cabins if you’re not coming to one of our camps.

Ogoki Reservoir

The Ogoki Reservoir mini-lodge covers over 35,000 acres and is 35 miles in length. Our camp is located on an island less than 5 minutes by boat from Eight Flume Falls where the Ogoki River flows into the reservoir. Fishing walleye at the base of Eight Flume Falls is like fishing in a barrel. This body of water is best known for its above average size walleye, ranging from 3½ to 4 pounds, in large numbers. The Ogoki Reservoir also produces large northern pike, whitefish and sturgeon. This camp will accommodate 2 to 30 people and consists of five fully equipped guest cabins.

Short Lake

This camp is located on an isolated arm of the Ogoki Reservoir known as Short Lake which was one of the three lakes that where combined to form the reservoir. Walleye are abundant averaging 3½ to 4 pounds and northern pike up to 25 pounds. This is a very popular camp offering a large three bedroom cabin in an isolated location with access to a massive body of water covering 35,000 acres and hundreds of miles of shoreline. This camp is available for groups of 4 to 10.

Mojikit Lake

Mojikit Lake is another large body of water covering 14,000 acres and is connected to the Ogoki Reservoir by a narrow, navigable, channel. As part of the Ogoki Watershed, Mojikit Lake is noted for its perfect natural fish habitat offering huge catches of larger walleye and monstrous northern pike. This is the only camp on this large lake. The camp consists of a large two bedroom cabin located in a unique protected lagoon. This camp is suitable for groups of 2 to 9.
